Two photos. Same gym. Same Professor. 50+ pounds between them.

Got my 4th stripe. 🥋

Started at 44 to support my 7-year-old daughter who loves this art. Somewhere along the way I dropped 50+ lbs, started actually taking care of my body and mind, and found a community I didn't know I needed.

GB family, y'all are part of this. Thank you for every bit of encouragement.

Who else started BJJ later in life or because of their kid? Let's hear it 👇

I keep seeing references to a new GB2 curriculum. I could not find a location on the GB Online system for these changes. Can someone advise where I can obtain a copy of the previous and the new version curriculums? Also, have there been any changes to the GB1 curriculum to sync with GB2? Thanks.

🥋 Why is BJJ fun? Let us count the ways…

For us, it’s the challenge stepping on the mat and being better than we were last class. It’s the grind, the growth, and yeah… sometimes it’s showing up and then laughing at our mistakes. Father and son. On the mat and off it. Os Del Rio represent! 💪

GB Mat Talk

“The Tatami is the greatest teacher, but only to the student humble enough to listen.”

Have you ever noticed how the people who improve the most are the ones who stay the most coachable?

Today I had another great session with Professor Dudu, and as he walked me through his review of this week’s specific training at GB1, GB2, and that live match review too… I realized something.

Growth isn’t loud. It’s quiet. It’s in the details only a trained eye can see.

And when you start to really listen, not just hear, but absorb, you begin to feel the shifts before you see them. The flow gets smoother. The mindset gets quieter. The game starts to open up.

There are no secrets. There is no magic. Just a Professor who sees what you can’t yet see in yourself… and a student willing to trust the process long enough to become it. #EverydayPorrada

GB | Mat Talk | Let’s Talk Grip

Quick question. How much are you actually thinking about your grip when you roll?

Not how hard you squeeze. How intentional you are with it. I think I tend to hold on because I’m thinking sweep, or I’m thinking about my training partner not sweeping me. Okay, maybe I’m trying to fake them out I’m going do something haha.

Every grip should have a job. A setup. A purpose. If you cannot answer what your grip is doing right now, is it really working for you or just holding on?

Think about that before your next roll. One grip. One job. See what opens up.

And tape your fingers maybe?

See you on the mat.
