GB3 No-Gi by Braulio Estima
This week's No-Gi Side Mount bottom techniques are part of Week 8 of the GB3 No-Gi module with Prof. Braulio Estima
Have you checked out the GB Online Instagram account?
To start the video, Prof. Braulio is trapped underneath his oponent's side mount and is going to share some of the fine details to make this escape as efficient as possible. This might be the most important positional escape in jiu-jitsu!
Pay Attention To: How Prof. Henrique winds up his body as he steps in and then unwinds as he hooks Prof. Marcio's leg from the inside. This is where the power for the reap comes from. Note how close the bodies are together - it's very difficult to perform most takedowns if you have too much distance from your opponent.
VIDEO 1: Side control escape - Replace the guard
Our 2nd video we see Prof. Braulio deal with a common reaction of the top opponent to the guard replacement - the opponent changes their side control to a variation of the Scarf Hold (kesa gatame).
Prof. Braulio uses his opponents resistance to the initial elbow to knee connection to force their balance backwards where Prof. Braulio can hook the opponent's head with his leg and coming up to the top position.
Main Concept: Prof. Braulio says "The secret of everything is how I can get my opponent's reaction against him. Jiu-Jitsu is not a tug of war. Jiu-Jitsu is not whoever is stronger wins."
